The Weight Loss Trend

Weight loss earlier was rare and confined to only some obese people whom the doctor had recommended for a weight loss programme. But today it's like a trend. Every second person is either already following a diet plan, or is planning to do so soon.

Reason?

The simple reason being, more and more people are turning overweight and obese these days. And more and more of us are becoming aware of words like health, nutrition, weight loss, fitness, diet plans etc.

But do we know what is right and wrong? Are we really looking forward to a healthy living on a long term basis or just short term weight loss goals for Diwali, wedding, vacation, festivals, etc?

And how many of us follow the web for all of these tips? EVERYONE!!

The new trend involves some random celebrity losing weight and giving you their diet plans and we, like blind, follow them. Why? Because we can see the results!

It is very important to understand that short term results never last and that what is really beneficial, takes time to come our way. Also, what worked for them may not work for you. Not only that, it may back fire as well.

The internet is flooded with nutrition and weight loss tips, recipes and magic weight loss drinks and ingredients and everything that one needs. But not all are authentic.

Even if we consider that they are authentic and science based (as they may claim), every science principle works differently for different persons and the foods may have a different personalised effect on individuals. The internet wouldn't give you that and you are not educated enough to know what's good for you and what not... (or else for wouldn't be reading this article in the first place!!! )

The only place you can get authentic advise is from a dietitian or a nutritionist. They are qualified for it. But how do you know that the nutritionist is genuine, reliable and trust worthy??

You need to see the minimum qualifications of the nutritionist:

1. Either a bachelor's or masters degree in food science and nutrition.
2. Diploma in food science and nutrition following the bachelor's degree.
3. A minimum of 3-4 years of education in this field.

Only a diploma of one year in food science and nutrition or clinical nutrition is not enough qualification for you to surrender your life to him/her. So chose your health mentor with a lot of caution and responsibility.

This article may sound too negative but it's an important eye opener. It's your life and you are the boss. You cannot let the internet rule it. Nor can you let some fake celebrity nutritionist ruin your health for life.

Live healthy and strong!! Live Right!!

Like if you agree and Comment for any doubts and clarifications!!
I'd be happy to answer them!!
