Fitness Secrets (Part 1)

Fitness is a word which is commonly mistaken with the word exercising.. "If I gym (do vigorous exercise), I am fit."
No, you are not fit unless you have coupled your exercise regime with your Diet.
"Diet" is not starving yourself to death, killing your taste buds and losing weight.
Diet typically means the food you eat. But just adding the word HEALTHY to it. Healthy food when coupled with exercise, makes you fit.

Fitness is your power to carry out your everyday activities with full energy and vigour, without being fatigued. Fitness is the power to think positive, behave positive and spread a wave of joy around you.
but do we know if we are fit or not?

Here are a few questions you need to ask yourself to know how fit you are..... And what you need to do to become fitter!

1. Do you have a stomach full of Breakfast?

Yes, breakfast is the most important meal of your day, that should give you 1/3rd of your daily nutritional requirements. A recent study reported in the journal of nutrition, claimed that having a heavy breakfast reduces the BMI (Body Mass Index) in individuals. So having a good healthy breakfast is important not only for a fit life but also for those who are looking forward to ways of reducing weight.

Your breakfast should ideally have sources of protein, some carbs and a little of fats so that it keeps you full through the major part of your day. For eg. have a fruit, beans / sprouts and toast or  chapatti. Indian snacks such as dal paratha, missal pav, moong dal or besan chilla, idli - dosa - uttapam, etc., are some of the dishes that you can resort to for a healthhy and wholesome breakfast.

2. How many meals do you have in a day?

Usually if you are working, you tend to consume only 3 large meals in the day or at the max four meals. If you do this, I'm sure you eat tummy full during the meals and starve before meals. This is the worst thing you can do to your body.

Eat 3 major meals during the day - breakfast - lunch - dinner. Eat just right. Or maybe a little less than how much you think you can eat for a tummy full feeling.

And eat 2-3 mid meals. One between lunch and breakfast. One between lunch and dinner. And one before breakfast (early morning) or after dinner (late night) depending upon your wake - sleep cycles.

Once you start following this,  notice the change in your moods and behaviour. You are bound to feel positive and spread the same around you!

3. What do you eat for your mid - meals?

Samosa
Vada Pav
Burger
Chips
Sandwiches
Dhoklas
Chaats
Fruits
Sprouts
Idli - dosa
Poha
Upma
Salad
Makhana
Juice
Buttermilk
Cold drink

And a never ending list.

What among these or others, do you consume?

I am sure you know which among these are healthy options and which unhealthy. Yet how many of us chose the healthy option?

Yes,  we only need a strong Will Power to be able to chose good over what we love. And start loving what is good.

(You can puck And chose your kind of healthy and post in the comment section below, and I will tell you if that is healthy in my eyes or no 😛)

So, let's pledge to chose the healthy for our fitness. The more we demand healthy good, the junk industry is bound to switch over to supply what we want..

Let's love what our body needs. Let's let our bodies breathe. And let's let the food so it's job of keeping us healthy, wealthy and wise!!
