Chapatti over Rice

We all have this question, whether we should eat rice or no? Why prefer wheat over rice? When to eat rice? White rice or brown? Here are some of your answers... 
1. Yes, you can definitely eat rice. Just like all other cereals like wheat, bajra, Ragi, etc, rice too is a cereal and has a calorie value similar to them. They all are in the same category. So there's no harm in eating rice. But, as the proverb goes, too much of anything Is harmful!! Consuming all cereals including rice in required quantities Is absolutely okay!
2. Now why should we prefer wheat over rice is the question only when white rice is in question. White rice is polished and has been separated from its husk. This makes it free of fibres. And fibre Is a very important supporting nutrient For our body to function normally, and for weight loss.
Also, white rice has a high glycemic index. Because of low fibre, rice gets quickly broken down in the body and releases sugar very fast. Hence the sugar levels shoot up.
Finally, along with the removal of the husk, the B-complex vitamins and the healthy fats present In the rice is also removed. Hence, white rice remains with a small amount of original nutrition present in it..
3. Rice should be preferably be consumed during the day, so that the sugar and energy levels can be met by the activities.
4. Brown rice is that which has not been polished, and still has the husk intact. Hence it is richer in fibre, and other nutrients. It digests slowly in the body and keeps you fuller For a longer period of time, plus it will not spike up your sugars too randomly and immediately!!
There maybe some nutritionists who say that since brown rice takes longer to cook, imagine the efforts taken by the body to digest them. Yes, they are right, but the point here is, we do want the body to digest it slowly, and steadily. So that your body has a balanced and constant energy supply and you remain fuller For long. That will prevent you from eating other junk snacks and aid in weigh loss, diabetes, cardiac problems and the rest...
All these problems arise only with a wrong eating lifestyle! Keep that in check and you would be fitter and fuller! Full of positive energy and enthusiasm! 
