VITAMIN D - THE SUNSHINE VITAMIN

According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), a branch of National Institutes of Health (NIH), 70-100% of Indians have vitamin D deficiency!
But why?
Sunlight is the best source of vitamin D. India has sufficient sunlight all through the year. Yet we are deficient in Vitamin D. It doesn't quite really suite the country. Have you ever wondered why?
Because we use sunscreens. Because we cover our hands and faces with clothes. Because we gate going out in the sun. All this out of fear of a darkened tanned skin. In the process of looking super stunning, we ruin our internal health. How right is that??
#Think #Do_what_is_required
But what can I, WE possiblly Do? It's a world of appearance. Not meaning.
Let's try to combine both.
1. Expose 18% of your bare body to the sunlight. By bare, we mean the parts of body without application of a sunguard, or covered with clothes. 18% could comprise of your hands and face.
2. The best time to expose yourself is for 20-30 mins between 11:00am - 2:00pm. The fair skin ones would require less exposure time to produce the vitamin D from the sunlight compared to the darker skin types. This is because the darker skin has more melanin compounds in which hinder the synthesis of vitamin d. So carefully analyse your skin type and gradually increase the exposure to sun.
3. It's better to be moving in the sun rather than staying still. Staying still may cause sunburn.
4. You can apply aloe Vera gel, lacto calamine lotion or some cooling gel on the skin after exposure. This will reverse the tanning effect.
5. No food source of vitamin D is as effective as the sunshine itself. Which is why it is commonly known as the sunshine  vitamin. The vitamin d synthesized naturally last longer than the supplemented injections in the body. So it's upto you, whether you chose your health over your appearance!
REMEMBER HEALTH IS WEALTH!
